Module 24
Asynchronous Development Tracker
Map your gifted child's development across domains to identify gaps and strengths
What is asynchronous development?
Gifted children often develop unevenly — a 7-year-old reading at a 12-year-old level while managing emotions like a 5-year-old. This is normal for gifted kids, not a disorder.

Signs of Significant Asynchrony
2+ year gap between strongest and weakest domains
Frustration when body can't keep up with mind (e.g., writing vs. ideas)
Difficulty finding same-age peers who share interests
Emotional meltdowns that seem 'too young' for their intellect
Boredom or behavior problems in school from under-stimulation
Perfectionism causing task avoidance in weaker areas
Intense existential questions or anxiety beyond age expectations
Adult-level reasoning used to avoid age-appropriate responsibilities
When you see a large gap, resist the urge to 'fix' the lower area by holding back the higher one. Instead, support both: challenge their strengths and scaffold their weaknesses without shame.
